Members of thirteen projects attended the two-day workshop, which was led by Prof. Dr. Reinhard Pollak and included presentations by Constantin Hammer, an expert on legal affairs and data protection at GESIS, and by Dr. Jutta von Maurice of the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories (LIfBi) on the particular data protection processes and considerations related to add-on studies based on the NEPS next samples.

The workshop provided participants with foundational knowledge about data protection with particular attention to two challenges that are especially relevant to New Data Spaces projects: Data processing challenges and challenges related to sensitive data and data formats. Workshop participants also discussed the specific data protection considerations of their projects with a goal of identifying challenges and solutions.
